Ehren-Dekret für Theorodokoi

ἔδοξε τῆι πόλει τῆι Γοννέων· [θεω]–ροδόκον ἑλέσθαι κατὰ τὸ ψήφισ[v]–μα, ὃ ἤνεγκαν οἱ θεωροὶ τῶν Ἀθηνα̣[ί]–ων Σωσιγένης καὶ Ἀρχεπτόλεμος,καὶ ἀναγράψαι τὸ ψήφισμα εἰστή–λην λιθίνην καὶ θεῖναι εἰς τὸ ἱεv–ρὸν τῆς Ἀθηνᾶς· θεωροδόκος Νί–καιος Ἀριστοκράτους ἑκὼν προσ– εδέξατο· κύριον.

Εὐκλῆς ΕὐκλέουΠοτάμιος εἶπεν· ἐπειδή τινες τοὺςὑπὸ τῆς πόλεως ἐκπεμπομένουςσπονδοφόρους θεωροδοκοῦντεςφανερὰν καθιστᾶσι τὴν πρὸς τὸνδῆμον εὔνοιαν καὶ φιλανθρωπίαν,καθήκει δὲ τῶι δήμωι μηθενὸς λείv–πεσθαι τῶν εἰς τιμὴν καὶ χάριν ἀνη–κόντων πρὸς τοὺς εὐεργετεῖν τὸνδῆμον αἱρουμένους, τύχῃ ἀγαθῆι,δεδόχθαι τῆι βουλῆι· τοὺς προέv v v–δρους, οἵτινες ἂν λ<ά>χωσιν προεδρεύ–ειν εἰς τὴν ἐπιοῦσαν ἐκκλησίανχρηματίσαι περὶ τούτων, γνώv v–μην δὲ ξυμβάλλεσθαι τῆς βουλῆςεἰς τὸν δῆμον, ὅτι δοκεῖ τῆι βουv–λῆι, ὅσοι θεωροδοκοῦντες τυγv–χάνουσιν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν ταῖςἀποδεδειγμέναις σπονδὰς v vτῶν τε Ἐλευσινίων καὶ Παναθη–ναίων καὶ Μυστηρίων, ὑπάρχειμμὲν αὐτοὺς ἤδη προξένους v vτοῦ δήμου τοῦ Ἀθηναίων· εἶναιδὲ αὐτοῖς φιλοτιμουμένοις vεἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἄλλο ἀγαθὸνεὑρέσθαι παρὰ τοῦ δήμου, ὅτουἂν δοκῶσιν ἄξιοι εἶναι· τοὺς δὲ v vσπονδοφόρους τοὺς ἐπαγγέλ<λ>ον–τας τά τε Ἐλευσίνια καὶ τὰ Πα–ναθήναια καὶ τὰ Μυστήρια προσαπο–φέρειν εἰς τὸ Μητρῶιον ἐν τοῖς λό–γοις τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν θεωροδοv v–κούντων πατρόθεν, ὅταν καὶ v vτὰς πόλεις τὰς ἀποδεξαμένας[τ]ὰ̣ς σπονδὰς ἀποφέρωσιν· ὅπως[ἂν] τούτων γινομένων οἵ τε φιλο–[τίμως π]ρ̣ὸς τὴν πόλιν διακείμε–[νοι φανεροὶ] κα̣θιστῶνται καὶ ὁ δῆ–[μος – – – – – – – – – –]ο̣ς φαίνηται v v– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Beschluss der Stadt Gonnoi: dass maneinen Theorodoken erwähle gemäß dem Beschluss,den eingebracht haben die Festgesandten der AthenerSosigenes und Archeptolemos,und aufzeichne diesen Beschluss auf eine steinerneStele und aufstelle in das Heiligtumder Athene. Als Theorodokos wurde Ni-kaios S.d. Aristokrates freiwillig be-stimmt. Gültig. –

Eukles S.d. Euklesaus dem Demos Potamos stellte den Antrag: Da einigedie von der Stadt ausgesandtenTrankopferbringer als Theorodokoi aufgenommenund so öffentlich gemacht haben ihrWohlwollen gegenüber dem Volk und ihre Freundlichkeit,und da es dem Volk ziemt, nichts zu unterlassenvon dem, was Ehrung und Dankbetrifft, gegenüber jenen, die dem Volk Wohltaten zuleisten gesinnt sind, zu Glück und Heil!,wolle beschließen der Rat: dass die Vor-sitzenden, die erlost sind, vorzusitzenfür die kommende Volksversammlung,hierüber verhandeln lassen und die Beschluss-vorlage des Rates in die Volksversammlungeinbringen, wonach der Rat es für gut befindet:alle momentanen Theorodokoiin den Städten, diegebilligt haben die Trankopferfür die Eleusinien und Panathe-näen und Mysterien, dass diesejetzt sein sollen proxenoides Volkes der Athener; dasssie bei weiterem Ehrgeizgegenüber der Stadt noch andere Auszeichnungfinden werden bei dem Volk, derensie für würdig erachtet werden; dass dieTrankopferbringer, die dieEleusinien und die Panathenäenund die Mysterien verkünden, über-mitteln zum Metroon in ihrenBerichten auch die Namen der Theoro-dokoi mit Patronym, wenn siedie Städte, die die Trankopfer.gebilligt haben, mitteilen. – Damit,wenn dies geschieht, die ehrgeizigfür der Stadt Gesinnten öffentlichgemacht werden und das Volk- - - in öffentlicher Weise- - -

The city of Gonnoi decided:to choose a Receiver of official visitors in accordance with the decreewhich the official visitors of the Athenians have brought,Sosigenes and Archeptolemos,and to inscribe the decree on a stonestele and place it in the sanctuaryof Athena. Nikaios son of Aristokrates volunteeredto be appointed Receiver of official visitors.Approved as valid. –

Eukles son of Euklesof Potamos proposed: since certainReceivers of official visitors, in receivingthe bearers of the truce sent out by the city,have made manifest their good willand humanity towards the People,and it befits the People not to fall shortas regards honour and thankstowards those who choose to benefitthe People, for good fortune,the Council shall decide, that the presiding committeeallotted to presideat the forthcoming Assemblyshall place these matters on the agenda,and submit the opinion of the Councilto the People, that it seems good to the Councilthat as many as happen to be Receivers ofofficial visitors in the cities whichaccept the truce,for the Eleusinia and the Panathenaiaand the Mysteries, that they shouldnow be proxenoiof the Athenian People; and be permitted,on showing love of honourto the city, to obtainother benefits from the People, whateverthey may be deemed to be worthy of; and thebearers of the truce, when they have announcedthe Eleusinia and thePanathenaia and the Mysteries, shall supplyto the Metroon in their reportthe names of the Receiversof official visitors, and their father's names, when theymake their return of the citieswho have accepted the truce. So that,these things coming to pass, those who are disposedto be honour-loving towards the cityshall be apparent, and the People may be seen to be- - -
